The Power of Storytelling

The Power of Storytelling

When I first began preparing for the talk, I asked myself, “What do I truly want to say to the world?” The answer wasn’t simple, but it was clear: I wanted to share the power of creating safe spaces for mental health conversations, especially for those who often feel unseen or unheard.

The talk gave me an opportunity to weave together personal stories, professional experiences, and a vision for the future. It was both terrifying and exhilarating to share my struggles and triumphs—moments of doubt, resilience, and hope—all in front of an audience that I hoped to inspire.

Reflecting on the experience, I realized that standing on that stage wasn’t just about delivering a speech; it was about living the values I advocate for. Here’s what I learned:

  1. Vulnerability is Strength: Sharing my struggles with anxiety, self-expression, and people-pleasing was not easy, but it was liberating. Vulnerability builds connection, and connection is where change begins.
  2. Community Matters: Preparing for the talk reminded me of the incredible mentors, friends, and supporters who have stood by me. This wasn’t just my moment—it was ours.
  3. Stories Have Power: Stories are bridges that connect people. By sharing mine, I was able to invite others into a conversation about mental health, resilience, and creating a more inclusive world.

kanthari has been more than just a program—it’s been a transformative space that allowed me to grow, challenge myself, and step into the person I’ve always aspired to be. The kanthari Talk was a culmination of everything I’ve learned: the courage to lead with my heart, the resilience to embrace challenges, and the wisdom to know that change starts with small, meaningful actions.

The talk was a milestone, but it’s just the beginning. My journey with @talkmentalhealth.id continues as I work towards creating safe spaces for young people to share, heal, and grow. The Creative Hub in Yogyakarta is one of the many dreams I’m bringing to life, and I hope to carry the energy and insights from the talk into every step I take moving forward.

I’d love to hear from you:

  • What story are you holding onto that the world needs to hear?
  • How can we create spaces that make sharing these stories feel safe and empowering?

Thank you for being part of my journey, whether you’ve been there from the start or are just joining now. Your support, encouragement, and belief in me mean the world.

Here’s to more conversations, more connections, and more courage to make a difference.

With gratitude,
Fransisca
