When I was young, my home felt like a battlefield. My parents often argued, and no matter how hard I tried—getting perfect grades, being a good girl, hoping to bring peace into my home—it didn’t work. Instead, I still felt invisible.  At school, I acted out, hoping someone would notice me, but inside, I was empty, lost, and scared.

There were even moments when I thought about ending it all. But something kept me going. I found small pieces of hope in books, art, therapy, and through the support of friends and mentors.

But my story isn’t unique. Due to high self-expectations, familial pressure, and societal norms, 1 in 3 young people in Indonesia faces mental health challenges. Anxiety, depression, and feeling like they don’t belong are common battles. Mental health issues are widespread, but because of stigma, judgment, and discrimination, many suffer in silence, too afraid to ask for help.

This is why Talk Mental Health Indonesia plays such a crucial role. Talk Mental Health.id (TMH.id) empowers young people, especially marginalized youth to overcome mental health struggles and discover their own paths to personal growth through connection and creative expression. Our mission is to create a safe, inspiring space where young people can express themselves, heal, and build resilience.

This space will use art and creativity as tools for emotional expression and self-discovery, helping participants build resilience and move forward in their life journeys. I have witnessed the healing power of art and self-expression and its profound ability to create change. At the end of the program, we will host a mini-exhibition to celebrate participants’ creative processes, inviting friends, family, and the community.

TMH.ID has a professional responsibility as an organization to provide various updates on the campaigns being carried out, including reports on fund usage. Donation money will not be used for personal purposes or to pay the salaries of staff and the organization’s CEO. Instead, donations will be allocated for the operational costs of the Creative Hub, such as providing co-working space facilities, organizing educational and training programs, covering maintenance and upkeep expenses, and procuring tools and equipment that support creativity and innovation. All received funds will be managed transparently and accounted for to donors and the community.

To bring Creative Hub in life, we need both resources for set-up the space and funding to hire skilled professionals who will lead bi-weekly activities over the next three months.
